I first began to really think about, research and implement the idea that “our health and wellness is directly affected by what we put into our mouths”, in the early 1990’s when I was in my early 20’s after my middle daughter was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome.
I set myself, and my family onto the path of long, immensely interesting and sometime controversial journey of nutritional trials and changes, herbal, natural and traditional healing remedies, supplements and medicines and lifestyle changes, as I truly believed that we are not only designed at our cellular level to always strive toward our optimal health, and that we came equipped with the innate wisdom and ability to do so, but that we evolved on this miraculous planet along side all the things in nature that we need in order to achieve it.
It has only been in more recent and modern times that we have been led to believe that our healing ability lies outside of ourselves, so most people have forgotten they have this inner compass and wisdom, or they doubt its validity. When there is illness, dis-ease, pain and suffering both physical and mental most modern people think that their healing is only available in the form of non-natural mediums and decided for them at the hands of others. And while modern allopathic medicine is miraculous , valid and necessary in its own right, it is not the “only” or “complete” or “wholistic” way of achieving the fantastic health and wellbeing that our bodies and souls need.
During these early days of my daughter’s illness, I also began deliberately using Energy therapy for the first time.
I would sit and place my hands on her and with pure heart centred intention call to come down through me “what she needed”. When I was going through very trying and exhausting times, I would call in to me as I lay down for bed at night, Universal light and love energy asking that it rejuvenate and energise me as I slept. I had unconsciously been connecting with and using these energies my whole life, but it was only at this time that I realized in a very small way what I had available to me.
I continued practicing in this way on myself and family for the next ten years or so and also did a lot of reading, researching, joining groups and talking with others and meditating and eventually changed my original thinking that our wellness is a result of what we put in our mouths with the realisation that “our health and wellbeing is a direct result of what we take in and digest”, whether that is in the form of nutrition through food and drinks, what we experience, live or see, what we feel and our personal and cultural belief systems and so to heal ourselves we need to work with all levels…take the holistic approach.
